Spears Tears Up as Son Debuts for Texas

· Fact-checked before it aired. Unconfirmed claims from this segment are not shown.

Marcus Spears Jr., the five-star basketball recruit and son of ESPN NFL analyst Marcus Spears, is making his Texas Longhorns debut against Chicago State. Previews and roster pages confirm his arrival at Texas and the game.

I could find no source confirming Jeffery Simmons is now on the Chicago Bears. As of my last reliable information, Jeffery Simmons is a Tennessee Titans defensive tackle. The post appears to be a misleading or fictional promo image. This is a promo photo/hype post from the NFL saying Luther Burden III is "ready to rock in Seattle." It makes no factual claim requiring a check beyond that he is associated with Seattle; Luther Burden III is a wide receiver, previously at Missouri and now in the NFL. This is an NFL promo post that Zach Charbonnet is back for the Seattle Seahawks. It contains no claim beyond a player being featured for a game; Zach Charbonnet is a running back for the Seattle Seahawks.

What the hosts said

MMonday night, Primetime Sports, and we got a five-star debut in Austin and a Bears promo that's straight fiction.
MLiam, let's start with the real one. Marcus Spears gets emotional on the sidelines as his son makes his Texas debut.
LFive-star kid, reclassified up a year, playing Chicago State. And Pop is crying on national TV.
MAnd the internet is split hard. One reply says sports are meant to be competitive, not a family therapy session.
LThat's a loser take. You play your whole career, your son goes to Texas, and you're supposed to act like it's a Tuesday?
MI'm with you. That man played for the Cowboys and Ravens, and the waterworks still hit.
LBasketball needs more of that, not less. A dad proud of his kid is not soft.
MNow, the NFL's out here trying to gaslight us. First look at Jeffery Simmons in a Bears uniform.
LExcept that's not true. Simmons is still a Titan. There's no trade.
MZero confirmation anywhere. It looks like a fake promo image, and people are eating it up.
LThat's the problem with these hype accounts. One unverified picture and now you got Bears fans losing their minds.
MFine, leave them with the dream. But don't put the man in a new uniform if he's not in one.
LMeanwhile, the real Bears game is in twenty minutes. Charbonnet is back for Seattle. That one actually matters.
MBears getting Simmons would be fun, but tonight they gotta stop the Seahawks' run game. That's the real story.
