Oncast is a live radio app. There is no sign-up and no account. We collect as little as we can to run the station, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we collect
- An anonymous device ID. A random ID created by the app, not linked to your name, Apple ID or phone number. It lets the station count listeners and avoid replaying segments you already heard.
- Listening activity. Which channel you listen to, for how long, your device type (iPhone, Android, Apple Watch or web), and the interests you picked in the app. We use it, in aggregate, to see which channels and topics people like.
- Your first name, if you enter one. It's optional and is kept on your device and in your own iCloud. It's sent only when the hosts greet you or answer you; a short greeting with that first name may be stored on our server so it plays instantly next time (it isn't linked to you or your device).
- Voice recordings, only when you talk to the hosts. When you press the mic button, your recording is turned into text and answered. The recording is used only to answer you and is deleted within a day.
- A notification token, if you allow notifications. It lets us send alerts such as "a live guest goes on air in 10 minutes".
What we don't collect
- No contacts, photos, location, health data or browsing history.
- No advertising IDs, no tracking across other apps or websites, no third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
Who processes it
To run the station we use these service providers. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Railway: hosts the station's servers.
- Anthropic: writes the hosts' scripts and answers (including your words, when you talk to the hosts).
- ElevenLabs: turns speech into text, and voices some hosts.
- Fish Audio: voices the hosts.
- Apple and Google (Firebase): deliver notifications.
- Cloudflare: stores the archive of broadcast segments (the shows themselves, not listener data).
Live guests
People invited to be interviewed on air join through a private link. Their voice and name are broadcast live, and the conversation (their recorded turns and a transcript) is kept for 30 days, then deleted. A guest can ask us to delete it sooner at info@ssta.digital.
How long we keep it
- Voice recordings and the hosts' private replies: deleted within 24 hours.
- Listener statistics: kept as daily totals; device IDs are stored only as one-way hashes.
- Notification tokens: until you turn notifications off or uninstall the app.
Your choices
- Don't want to be counted? Simply don't play the station; nothing is sent while the app is stopped.
- Turn notifications and microphone access on or off anytime in your phone's settings.
- Want something deleted? Email us with the approximate time you used the app and we'll remove what we can link to it.
Children
Oncast is a general-audience news and talk app and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
