UCF-BYU upset details don't add up

· Fact-checked before it aired. Unconfirmed claims from this segment are not shown.

No. 2 BYU lost at home to UCF 41–21 on November 29, 2026, in the regular-season finale, per ESPN. The Cougars finished 11–1 and clinched a spot in the Big 12 championship game. The loss came after BYU had climbed to No. 2 in the AP poll following a chaotic week when five of the top seven teams lost, including BYU's 28–24 win over Notre Dame in October.

BYU started slowly, falling behind 14–0 in the first quarter, then outscored UCF 41–7 the rest of the way, led by Bear Bachmeier's 289 passing yards and LJ Martin's three rushing touchdowns, according to BYU Athletics.

BYU did lose as the No. 2-ranked team, but not in double overtime to UCF. According to ESPN's AP poll recap, BYU rose to No. 2 after beating Notre Dame on October 18, 2026, and later fell 41–21 to UCF in the regular-season finale on November 29, 2026. No double-OT game between these teams appears in recent results.

The post appears to mix two games: Jaylen Brown and the Celtics vs. the Bucks, and a separate Bucks-76ers game. Brown's birthday is October 24, which fits the timing, but the matchup described is muddled.

What the hosts said

ENow to the NBA: the league posted a fifteen-to-nothing Hornets run. Moussa Diabaté protects the rim, Grayson Allen hits the triple.
SA run is a run. It's one stretch of a game, not a season.
ESure, but that's a defense-first run, and Charlotte hasn't had many of those. I like what it says about their identity.
SI like it when a team wins the whole game. Show me forty-eight minutes.
EYou'd have made a great tax auditor.
SI'll take that as a compliment.
