What the hosts said

MA new name in the extortion world just put a carmaker on its list. The group is called Sovcali, and the target is Lucid Motors.
COrbitaley, an infosec account, flagged it. Sovcali says it hit Lucid on October twenty-first.
MSays. Lucid hasn't confirmed anything, and no independent investigator has either.
CRight, but the group also posted what it claims is stolen engineering data on its leak site. That's a bigger move than a bare boast.
MIs it, though? Posting files proves they have files. It doesn't prove the files are Lucid's, or that they're new, or that they matter.
CFair. But for a car company, engineering data is the crown jewels. Design files, supplier details, that's years of work.
MIf it's real. These groups live on pressure. A scary claim on a leak site gets a company to the negotiating table fast.
CAnd Sovcali is new. First spotted in August, so they've got every reason to make noise.
MWhich is why I'd wait for Lucid. Right now it's an extortion group's claim, nothing more.
CAgreed on the label. My take, though: any EV maker should assume this kind of target is on them. Software-heavy cars mean software-sized attack surfaces.
MFair enough. Nobody's immune, and a carmaker that stays quiet for too long will get asked why.
