What the hosts said

EEgypt's parliament just hit pause on a vote to send troops to Yemen, and the foreign minister says they want talks first.
SEgypt wants talks? That's the headline, but the vote is only postponed until October 26. That's a week.
ERight, and Sisi says any support would be limited to defending Saudi territory, not attacking Yemen. So it's a pause, not a no.
SWhich is exactly how you keep both sides happy while the actual decision gets made behind closed doors.
EI think the interesting part is the timing. Egypt's been under pressure from Riyadh for years to do more in Yemen.
SAnd they've resisted sending ground troops every time. This looks like more of the same, just with better PR.
EThe foreign minister's statement is real, though. They're calling for a diplomatic solution, and that's a shift in tone.
SA shift in tone, sure. But a vote postponed by a week isn't a peace deal. It's a delay.
EFair. But if they were going to approve it, why not just vote now? The delay itself tells you something.
SIt tells me they're waiting to see what the US does after the midterms. Everyone's waiting on that.
ESpeaking of waiting, here's a different kind of breaking news. A Bluesky account posted just the words 'Breaking News' and nothing else.
SAnd twenty-one people liked it. That's the state of news right now.
EThen there's the one that says 'BREAKING NEWS: the baby said no no!'
SOkay, that one's actually funny. But it's also the point.
EAnd another one: 'BREAKING NEWS: Micha Nori has NOT been arrested by the FBI this morning.'
SThat's satire, but it works because we've all seen a hundred posts exactly like that, minus the 'not'.
EThere's a Bluesky user named Distracted who put it plainly: 'Bombshell and Breaking News no longer mean anything.'
SThey're right. When everything is breaking, nothing is. It's just noise.
EBut here's my pushback. The words still mean something when the story is actually big. The problem is the people using them for a baby saying no.
SNo, the problem is the platforms reward the label, not the story. So everyone slaps 'breaking' on everything.
EThat's a fair point. The incentive is broken.
SAnd the audience is exhausted. You can't cry wolf a thousand times and expect people to care when the real thing happens.
EI think people do still care when it's real. They just have to wade through a lot of garbage to find it.
SWhich is exactly why we're here. To wade through it so you don't have to.
EAnd on that note, a quick word from our sponsor.

EAnd that's the thing about today's feed. You've got Egypt's parliament and a baby saying no, all competing for the same attention.
SThe signal is still there. You just have to know what to ignore.
EWe'll be back with more of the signal after this.
