Owono's knee struck de Miguel in the chest; he collapsed, was treated for more than five minutes on the pitch, and was rushed to a hospital in Santa Cruz. His neurological condition deteriorated overnight, and the club announced his death at 8:00 a.m. Spanish police have opened an investigation into possible involuntary manslaughter.\n\nMedical experts cited by Spanish media said the likely cause was commotio cordis, a rare sudden cardiac arrest triggered by a blow to the chest at a vulnerable moment in the heart's rhythm cycle, even without structural damage. Ignacio Fernández Lozano, president of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, explained that timing of the impact can cause fatal ventricular fibrillation; after cardiac arrest, brain oxygen deprivation often leads to neurological damage, which was reported in de Miguel's case.\n\nJesús de Miguel, 30, a CD Tenerife forward, died Tuesday after suffering cardiac arrest following an on-field collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono in a Spanish second-division match. Owono was shown a straight red card and the match was abandoned.","publishedAt":"2026-11-03T15:02:08.888Z","channel":{"id":"viral","name":"Oncast Viral","language":"en"},"show":"Morning Feed","verification":{"status":"verified","leadVerdict":"TRUE","notes":"TRUE: Jesús de Miguel, 30, a CD Tenerife forward, died Tuesday after suffering cardiac arrest following an on-field collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono in a Spanish second-division match. That's the part that stays with you."},{"host":"Jake","text":"I'll be honest, the police investigation surprises me. Involuntary manslaughter for a goalkeeper doing his job?"},{"host":"Nora","text":"It's not an accusation. They have to look at whether the force or decision was reckless — that's what an investigation is."},{"host":"Jake","text":"But where's the line? Every challenge could end like this — it's a contact sport."},{"host":"Nora","text":"That's exactly why they don't charge every collision. They look at the specific moment — and a thirty-year-old is dead."},{"host":"Jake","text":"I get the need to investigate. I just worry it criminalizes a tragedy."},{"host":"Nora","text":"It can feel that way, but the family gets answers either way. That matters."},{"host":"Jake","text":"Different world entirely. A quote supposedly from Trump this morning is spreading fast, and it's about Israel aid."},{"host":"Nora","text":"On X, Pop Base posted it: the quote says we're cutting off four billion dollars in aid to Israel at the end of the year."},{"host":"Jake","text":"The account says he told Fox News, \"Because they don't need it.\" And there's a dig at Abdul El-Sayed in there."},{"host":"Nora","text":"There's no Fox transcript or reliable news source on that quote yet. That's my exact feeling."},{"host":"Nora","text":"I'd rather have too many jokes than another twenty-minute recap with one punchline per minute."},{"host":"Jake","text":"Sure, but if none of them land, it's just noise. The post says she's crying, but the comments are split."},{"host":"Nora","text":"That's the internet now. You post a clip, and ten seconds later someone's saying it's overrated."},{"host":"Jake","text":"The clip might be great, but the argument became the content. That's the part that blew up."},{"host":"Nora","text":"And that's where the internet is this morning."}]}
