It is only the second album by a woman or female-fronted act to produce four Country Airplay leaders since the chart launched in 1990, following Shania Twain's The Woman in Me (1995-96).\n\nLangley has been at the center of country music's 2020s commercial boom. Her single \"Choosin' Texas\" made her the first woman to simultaneously top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. Dandelion debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has spent 21 weeks atop Top Country Albums — a modern-era record — while Morgan Wallen's \"Don't We\" from I'm the Problem became the first album to produce seven original-version Country Airplay No. 1s.\n\nBillboard published a list confirming Ella Langley's Dandelion is only the second album by a woman to produce four Country Airplay No. 1s, following Shania Twain's The Woman in Me in 1996. Because a ninja fighting game from the nineties doesn't scream 'blockbuster' to me."},{"host":"Laura","text":"That's exactly the point, Claudette. Wario64 posted it over on Bluesky, and the creator of Altered Carbon, Laeta Kalogridis, is reportedly attached."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Altered Carbon had real style. Cyberpunk noir, big ideas. If she brings that to a sword-fighting game..."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Samurai Shodown was always darker than Street Fighter. Slower, deadlier. One wrong move and you're cut in half. That tone could actually work as a film."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Video game movies have been cursed for decades, though. For every Sonic, there's a dozen disasters."},{"host":"Laura","text":"But the last few years changed that. The Last of Us, Fallout, even Mario made money. The audience is there now."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"The audience is there for Mario. A niche fighting game from 1993? That's a harder sell."},{"host":"Laura","text":"But that's why you hire someone like Kalogridis. She can build a world around it, not just adapt move sets. This is exactly how you do a smaller property right."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"No official cast or release date yet. Hollywood Reporter confirmed it's in development."},{"host":"Laura","text":"I'll be first in line with a wooden sword. Don't test me."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Speaking of names making history — Billboard just posted something wild about country music."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Ella Langley again? She's been unstoppable."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Her album Dandelion just got its fourth number one on the Country Airplay chart. That's only the second time a woman has done that since the chart started in 1990."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Wait. So the only other person is...?"},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Shania Twain, with The Woman in Me back in 1996. A whole generation ago."},{"host":"Laura","text":"That's a wild gap. And Dandelion has been sitting on top of the country album chart for 21 weeks now."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"A modern record. Billboard's Russ Penuell pointed out that even three number ones from one album by a woman is rare — only thirteen albums have done that since 1990."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Langley told Billboard in April, 'Every day I wake up, it's like something more insane has happened.' I believe her. She's the first woman to top the Hot 100, Hot Country, and Country Airplay at the same time."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"And it's not just her. Megan Moroney and Kacey Musgraves both dropped albums this year that opened with over a hundred thousand units on the country chart."},{"host":"Laura","text":"So women are running country music right now, and the numbers finally show it."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"My take? Morgan Wallen can sell out stadiums and get seven number ones, but Langley's doing something different — she's the one people actually talk about."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Oh, come on. Wallen's album got seven number ones from one record. He's not the side story here."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"He's huge, but his numbers are just numbers. Langley's got a narrative — working her way up, breaking a thirty-year drought. That's the story people remember."},{"host":"Laura","text":"So because she's an underdog, the achievement matters more? Dandelion has four hits. Wallen has seven. You can't argue with math."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"I'm not arguing with math, I'm saying context matters. When Shania did it, country radio looked completely different. For Langley to do it now, with streaming and everything else..."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Okay, fine. She's breaking barriers. But let's not pretend Wallen isn't the biggest thing in country right now."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"He's the biggest. She's the most interesting. Both can be true."},{"host":"Laura","text":"And meanwhile, Netflix just posted a tease that has everyone suddenly remembering a show we all watched."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Sasha and Morgan. Just two names, no context, and the internet's doing the rest."},{"host":"Laura","text":"For anyone who needs it — those are characters from Nobody Wants This. Time says Season 3 is exploring whether they get together after both end up single."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"The slow burn has been building since season one. He's the brother, she's the... complicated one."},{"host":"Laura","text":"The 'will they, won't they' has been cooking for two years. Netflix knows exactly what it's doing posting two names with zero explanation."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"It's a masterclass in dropping a crumb. No date, no trailer, just two first names and complete chaos."},{"host":"Laura","text":"I've seen twelve different theories already. One account thinks it's a spin-off announcement."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"It's not a spin-off. Time reports it's the Season 3 storyline. People need to calm down."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Where's the fun in that?"},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Speaking of fun — George Hahn on Bluesky just posted his scary movie pick for tonight."},{"host":"Laura","text":"It Follows? Oh, that movie doesn't get enough love."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Directed by David Robert Mitchell in 2014. The premise is horrifying: this thing just... walks toward you. Slowly. Forever."},{"host":"Laura","text":"And no matter where you go, it's coming. You can't kill it, you can't reason with it. You just run."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"The soundtrack alone is enough to ruin your sleep. That synth drone lives in my head."},{"host":"Laura","text":"I love that Hahn is posting his October watch list like a normal person. Big-name actor with a public account, recommending horror films on a Friday."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"It's refreshing. No press tour, no premiere. Just 'tonight's scary movie.'"},{"host":"Laura","text":"Alex Brown on Bluesky had a similar vibe — posted about Wicker, called it 'beautiful.'"},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Wicker is gorgeous. That movie doesn't get its flowers enough."},{"host":"Laura","text":"October really brings out the film people. Everyone suddenly has opinions about what makes a perfect scary movie."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"It Follows is a great pick. Slow dread beats jump scares every time."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Strong words. I know some people who'd fight you on that."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"They're wrong."},{"host":"Laura","text":"There's also some weird stuff floating around about a feel-good holiday movie involving Donald Trump and Jon Husted."},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Paulley Ticks on Bluesky posted it with those hashtags. No actual movie, no studio, just a guess. I'm not holding my breath."},{"host":"Laura","text":"Yeah, that's just wishcasting. Anyone can tag two names and say 'this could be a movie.'"},{"host":"Claudette","text":"Wild to me that someone saw those two and thought 'feel-good holiday film.'"},{"host":"Laura","text":"Somewhere a Netflix executive just got a terrible idea."}]}
